I made myself a crocheted jacket!

This jacket is one of those things which I thought to make instantly. I wasn't sure about which color I was going to choose but there were only a few colors available in the yarn I was going to replace for Lion Brand's Cotton Ease. I usually do not go for any shades of blue but this is the first thing I made myself in blue.

It's a quick pattern if you feel okay sewing the pieces together in the end. I didn't care about sewing the pieces initially but after completing this jacket I'm gonna choose only those patterns which are made in one piece or with minimal sewing. What actually made me mad were the "holes" along the seam lines where sleeves are joined. I wanted those "holes" and I couldn't figure out which sewing method produces such holes along the raglan sleeves. I started a forum thread over here on Ravelry to get the ideas. I got many valuable ideas about general sewing of sweater pieces together but no one could figure out how those holes are made. That was totally an ugh moment and at last I gave up on the holes and sewed the pieces by using a combination of backsitch seam + some nonsense sewing method of my own which I'm unable to explain.

The seams turned out okay but without the holes along the seam lines which are quite visible in the pattern picture. I would love to know if anyone of you can tell me what kind of sewing method can produce holes along the seam lines of such raglan sleeves. I will try to take a clear closeup shot of the seam line which can show you exactly how my seams turned out.

One of my friends has requested me to make a similar jacket for her and the little girl I'm teaching crochet is also going to make one for herself. So you are going to see couple of more essential jackets around!

P.S. I took all the photos above at the same time, in the same room and with the same light but each one has different hues & contrast levels. Ugh!
