Freshly Crocheted Cupcake!

April 15, 2011 Posted by shumaila Comments (4) Comments Feed

Who says Cupcakes can only be baked ? Well cupcakes can also be crocheted and can help you baking your cupcakes! I fond this cute & lovely Cupcake Potholder pattern here on Hannah 's blog.

It can make a perfect gift for any baker so I got the idea of making it for a friend who is really into baking. The pattern does not mention how the pieces should be faced to whip-stitch together. The seam is almost invisible if you whip-stitch the sides by keeping the wrong sides together. But I figured this after I was done joining the pieces and joined them by keeping the right sides together so the seam is a bit visible.

It was quick to make and I had such a fun time making it. If you are feeling to make some potholders, crochet these cupcakes to help you baking some!

Pleasure of making handmade Gifts

I made this sweet bag for a very sweet little girl. She chose the yarn & color herself.

You can get the pattern here

A simple, quick & lovely pattern!

I was super excited to present it to her and she was super happy to recieve it!

The pleasure of making gifts with your own hands is simply out of this world and the look of gratitude you get on the faces of your loved ones cannot be explianed in words.

Baby Gifts

January 5, 2011 Posted by shumaila Comments (4) Comments Feed

Without going into the long story of my absense from this little bloggy space of mine I would like to show you the baby gifts I & my friend, Nayab made last week for our mutual friend's new born daughter, baby Mysha (cutiepie!). I wanted to make something very special for her but I ended up making these little things. You have lots of options in choosing colours & patterns when you are making gifts for a little girl but I was terribly stuck up with a work project and I got only two days to work on these gifts but thankfully they were done on time, ummm okay, I completed the other hat later and sent it on Monday before she left the town.

Newborn Baby Booties Pattern here

Ugly photos ? huh! Well you should be thankful that I managed to take photos as I forgot to take the photo of the other hat I made. Yeah yeah, I have a blog and I know I wouldn't be able to write a post without a picture but even then I forgot to take the photo of the other hat. So it happens and I wish & hope it never happens again!. By the way I used this pattern for the other hat.

I was going through the pictures of the other baby gifts I've had made during my 2 years long crochet career (if you want to call it that!) and felt like sharing with you. I'm showing the pictures here and will hopefully add the pattern links later sometime.

Amigurumi Potted Plant & Wedding Gifts

November 5, 2010 Posted by shumaila Comments (5) Comments Feed

It did not turn out as good as I thought it to be. I first saw it here, her flowers & pot are so nice & tidy. The position of my flowers looks quite messed up. And above all it was my first time making french knots and offcourse I did a mess. I tried to take some neat photos but no it wasn't my day I guess. So you have to bear with the bad photos. Its going to be a gift for a very special Aunt, hope she likes it !

Oh this cutie pie is one of the gifts I've made for one of my friend's wedding. I wanted to make a cosmetic pouch and used this DROPS Design mini bag & Sarah's bag patterns to come up with this version.

The other gift I made for her is this scarf. Again its Sarah's pattern. Btw her patterns are very nice and many of them are free. You can check out her blog or ravelry url to see the patterns. I seriously want to say her a big thanks for sharing her several nice patterns for free. This scarf works up VERY quickly. I increased the width and started with 28 chains. I'm also going to make this scarf for me inshaAllah. Hoepfully its going to be a pink one.

The best part of the pattern is the scallop like edging it creates.

The only issue you find about shell pattern scarfs is the different edges. I did not know untill now that you can straighten out the edges by staggering the stitches. You can see Teresa's Tutorial here to see how to use this technique to staighten out the edges.

There is one more gift which is a matching mini pouch with the scarf. But its still "under construction". I will hopefully show you when its ready to be photographed.

Soooo now when the gifts are ready I can get back to working on my blanket which I still haven't shown you and which is very bad of me !

I also have couple of more personal projects in my mind which I can't wait to start. I wish I had more time to crochet !

I will be waiting for your comments. You may have bad things to say about the pot but come on you can try to say something good about the pouch & the scarf they are not bad or atleast I have to say this because these are the gifts and I dont want to make myself feel guilty about making bad gifts for a friend's wedding =D
